Volunteers for Amelioration of Rural Areas (VARAS) is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-Governmental organization registered with the Registrar General Department in the Republic of Ghana under the companies code 1963 with registration number G-21, 982. VARAS operates in the Volta region of Ghana, Africa. We also partner with so many schools and development agencies both in Ghana and abroad.
We are currently offering volunteer placements not only in Ghana but also in other countries such as Kenya, Cameroon and South Africa thanks to our partner organisations in these countries.

VARAS is open to volunteers from around the world regardless of gender, able or disabled. Co-operation with national / international bodies, churches, religious group / organizations, and corporations is highly welcomed.

We are in contact with donor organisations who can provide funding for volunteers who are interested in helping but can't afford the cost involved. We can link you with these organisations for funding that will help you be able to make your dream come true.

We have volunteer / internship opportunities in almost all fields of work - from teaching, nursing, health education, ecotourism, administration, community projects, etc... Just let us know your field and country of interest and we will get back to you immediately via email. No matter your level of education or age, people need your help in Africa.
